Lincoln
British Designer, Joanna Johnston, who previously worked on Saving Private Ryan, performed laborious research before crafting the costumes. She poured over books of historical photos and examined period dresses and jewelry at the Library of Congress and the Chicago History Museum. She was assisted by dressmaker Erica Ciaglia and tailor Michael Sloan. The costumes had significance for Mary Todd Lincoln's character, who spent a great amount of money on bright-colored dresses that she stuffed her rounder frame into, a hobby Abraham Lincoln could not be bothered to notice.
