Boyhood

boyhoodOur Must-See: Boyhood Let's get this out of the way: yes, this move is three hours long, but HELLO, it took 12 YEARS to make. So those three hours are so, so worth it. As if that weren't enough, Boyhood just took home a Golden Globe for "Best Drama Motion Picture" (that's a big one) and Patricia Arquette won "Best Supporting Actress" for her role in the film. The New York Times gave Boyhood five stars, writing: "The realism is jolting, and so brilliantly realized and understated that it would be easy to overlook. In 'Boyhood,' Mr. Linklater’s inspired idea of showing the very thing that most movies either ignore or awkwardly elide — the passage of time — is its impressive, headline-making conceit." Furthermore, "He isn’t fighting time but embracing it in all its glorious and agonizingly fleeting beauty," writes author Manohla Dargis in the NY Times. Among other nominations, Boyhood will fight "Best Picture" at the 2015 Oscars... but it doesn't have to fight for our attention. Total Nominations: 6 [Photo via @yhj_84]
