After the tragedy at the Boston Marathon, celebrities flooded Twitter with prayers for the victims and their families, praise for the first responders, and comments on the safety of America. New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre and Olympian Summer Sanders participated in the race but both walked away unharmed.

McIntyre’s early tweets were enthusiastic about participating in the days activities. “There was an explosion by the finish line about 5 minutes after I finished,” McIntyre tweeted after the event. “I’m ok but I’m sure there are many hurt.”

Boston natives like Mindy Kaling, Ben Affleck and Mark Wahlberg were particularly unsettled about the disaster that occurred in their hometown. “Such a senseless and tragic day,” Affleck tweeted. “My family and I send our love to our beloved and resilient Boston.”
