If you google mapped Keszler Gallery on your way to the Banksy Opening on Saturday night, you may have ended up strolling the streets of Southampton's downtown without ever finding the venue. This particular exhibit was not shown in your typical white-walled gallery, but rather the original Banksy works were taken from locations in Los Angeles, London, Bethlehem and Brighton were displayed in the grungy Southampton Village Power Plant on North Sea Road. It was a rare alternative mixer in the Hamptons as a big crowd of hipsters and yuppies showed up to consider the original works of the politically active graffiti artist, Banksy. More»

[Joell Ortiz of Slaughterhouse via] Saturday was a great day to be from Queensbridge, or at the very least, to love the music that comes from there. The infamous New York City housing project put two of its most famous homegrown acts front and center, as Nas and Mobb Deep led a deep an impressive lineup of classic 90's hip-hop acts onstage at the San Manuel Ampitheatre to kick of the 2011 incarnation of hip-hop's biggest summer festival, Rock The Bells. The 10 Freeway. Universally beloved, right? Whether you're stop-and-go'ing it all the way to Dodger Stadium (I know, bad example, who goes to Dodger games anymore?) or sitting at a standstill under one of many scenic overpasses, praying The Big One doesn't hit, can you think of a possible better time? And while tracking down the other members of Fu-Schnickens would probably require a deep knowledge of NYC subway tunnels or a time machine, there was never anything other than basketball stopping the Big Aristotle from returning to the silver screen. So imagine my joy when I fired up the ol' Twitter this morning and saw that Shaq tweeted about his meeting with Lance Klein and Ari Emanuel at the WME offices to discuss getting back to acting, and included some raw video footage of the sit-down. What's the best way to celebrate a milestone birthday? How about a big party full of friends, well-wishers, food & drink, and a totally amazing cake? Because that's how Los Angeles Magazine decided to celebrate its 50th Anniversary last night with a blowout gala in the Variety Building, and we were on hand to toast to fifty more years (and hopefully another cake). Sophie Monet, a ridiculously talented jewelry designer (who just created a pyrite-and-wood necklace for Of a Kind), knows her way around L.A. She’s lived between Santa Monica and Venice her whole life, minus those years she spent in New York for college. And not only is she a local, but she’s also a tremendously cool girl who knows the best spots in town for a night out that don’t try too hard. More»
via guestofaguest.com DJ Mia Moretti might fool you with her Goldilocks looks, but she doesn't just party like a rock star, she is one! Just yesterday she launched her debut single 'So Beautiful' with Violinist (and our co-planker) Caitlin Moe. This girl's got sick style. MORE>>>
