San Francisco

If you follow The Cobrasnake's adventures, which generally consist of touring with Steve Aoki and partying with Katy Perry, you'd know that he doesn't get out of bed in the morning (or whenever he gets out of bed) for anything less than an A-List rager. So on first glance, an unofficial Apple fan convention in San Francisco wouldn't seem like a slam-dunk option. Then again, this is Macworld, the biggest unofficial event of its kind, and the lineup of bands and DJ's is probably the best one going in SF this week, so maybe it makes more sense than we realize. If all the party-minded teenagers disappeared from your town and/or city over the last 4 days, it's probably because world-famous DJ/producer/Dim Mak label head Steve Aoki just kicked off the "Deadmeat" tour, where Aoki and Datsik will spend the next few months selling out historic theaters and concert arenas around the country. Now, as far as the various ways children rebel, attending the odd electro rave or two isn't as bad as, say, joining the Young Republicans club or something: sure, they're bound to experiment a little bit, but that's going to happen anyway, and at least they're partying under the guidance of a master DJ. San Francisco is undoubtedly a beloved American city. Most East Coasters call it their favorite place on the West Coast, and anybody you meet from S.F. will happily fill an hour or two bragging about their favorite sustainable Asian fusion and weed brownie delivery service that "you just couldn't find anywhere else." via la.guestofaguest.com:  America's #1 luxury lifestyle magazine, Travel & Leisure, just released their "America's Favorite Cities" survey, where respondents rank the Best and Worst. LA was #3 in ...dirt and trash. Ouch! Those who live in Los Angeles are not happy and pointing fingers at other cities. MORE>>>

[Go HERE for Part I of what we think Travel & Leisure was wrong about!]

'Sampling bias' refers to when the group of people chosen to conduct a survey or research study do not represent the full group that is supposedly being studied. For example, if we published a study called "LA's Favorite Bars," and then we only interview the drunk 16-year olds puking outside the Key Club, you might read it and end up thinking that the consensus best bar in LA is a K-Town grocery store that doesn't ask for ID when they sell Four Loko. This concept also applies to Travel & Leisure Magazine, and their "America's Favorite Cities" survey which I feel was off on more than a few key points. More»

So Travel & Leisure Magazine, America's #1 luxury lifestyle magazine owned by a credit card company, released the 2010 results for their staggeringly comprehensive "America's Favorite Cities" survey, where respondents rank everything from Best Nightlife to Best Antique Stores. And as we've already been conditioned to expect from nationwide surveys like this, L.A. got trashed. Since the survey separated visitors and residents, I can't even blame it all on out-of-towners who got mugged by a tranny on Hollywood Boulevard, but I still can't help but feel like it was off on a few key points. Let's start by examining three of the most glaring mistakes, along with the cities that should have been in that spot. More»
