5. Jay Pharoah is headed to the Oval Office, but that doesn't mean that Fred Armisen is on the outs.
Michaels also suggested in the interview that Pharoah will be taking on the responsibility of playing President Obama this election season, giving Armisen a break from the role. Pharoah's strongest moments on the show this past season were his spot-on impressions of actors and public figures including Will Smith and Denzel Washington. Although we love Armisen's interpretation of Obama, we're okay with the show's decision to pass the presidential torch along to a relative newcomer. And Michaels did note that Armisen, celebrating his tenth season on the show, would be its "backbone" this season. Now it's just a question of who will play Paul Ryan (hint: probably not Seth Meyers)...
