"Diaper Man"
Believe it or not, there are several "diaper men" out their in the Craigslist universe. This crime refers to men who fake brain injuries in order to have women provide unnecessary care.
In one incident, Sean Kelly, a 40 year old man posed as his brother on Craigslist looking for a caregiver. He told women that his imaginary brother had the mental capacity of a 5 year-old and would need to be fed and have his diaper changed.
Janet Schulte was one of the victims that fell for his charades. She had been told that Sean could walk to her house because he lived close by with his aunt. She became suspicious after several months of providing care without pay or word from the brother. Sean's real identity was revealed when her husband followed Sean one day and saw him walk a few blocks down to his car.
Janet revealed to
local news reporters that he played the part in her presence and even used a pacifier.
"It's not the money only. It was what he did to me. He played such a good role. I let him play video games with my kids and sleep on my couch."
