Sugar and Twitter just as bad for you as alcohol and cigarettes!

1. Study finds Twitter to be harder to resist than alcohol and cigarettes [TheGuardian]

I can't say that I'm surprised by this news, as I myself have an ugly habit of zoning out and scrolling Twitter at least once a day. It's hard to quit!

"With cigarettes and alcohol there are more costs – long-term as well as monetary – and the opportunity may not always be the right one. So, even though giving in to media desires is certainly less consequential, the frequent use may still 'steal' a lot of people's time.".

2. Study labels sweet stuff a menace needing regulation [TheDaily]

According to a team of San Francisco researchers, sugar is an addictive toxic menace that should be regulated in the same way tobacco and alcohol are controlled.

Opponents are not buying it:

“This is social engineering at its absolute worst,” Justin Wilson of the Center for Consumer Freedom said. “To suggest that Americans should be carded when they try to buy a soda or a snack is not only outrageously absurd, but an ineffective solution to slimming Americans’ waistlines.”
