The French Concession

What: The French Concession in the Day What’s Cool About it: There’s always something cool about colonial enclaves in Shanghai, and the French Concession is perhaps the coolest and most reminiscent of Europe. This is the best place to lose yourself, and wandering without a map will almost always end up in the discovery of a quirky French café of some sort! The best part about the French Concession is that there are no high-rises and it’s the freshest air you will get after a night of hitting the city hard. Note: If you’re in the mood for a more commercialized, spruced-up version of the French Concession, then head down to Xintiandi, a new development of bars and restaurants housed in colonial buildings and pedestrian-only plazas.
