An adventure and a spa treat in one seems hard to believe, but Iceland’s Blue Lagoon is precisely that. The Blue Lagoon geothermal “spa” is located in a lava field 40 minutes outside of Reykjavik. The accidental product of a geothermal power plant, this Lagoon only formed in the late 1970s. Adventure junkies revel in the fact that they’re in a lava field, whereas spa enthusiasts enjoy the benefits of the rich mineral water.
