Almost every person, at some point or another, sets the goal to run a marathon. Well you can officially one up every one of those people with the Marathon de Sables. What is a lousy 26 miles compared to 156 miles across the Sahara Desert, in 120 degree weather? The physical race route and format changes every year and is kept completely secret by the Race Director and his team until the day before the event starts. Each night, competitors sleep in bivouac villages with 7 other competitors and these 8 racers form a 'bivvy.' For those six days, your bivvy team becomes your family, nursing team, supporters, and after the experience you share together most definitely your life long friends.
