Ayutthaya, Thailand

Ayutthaya, Thailand
Ayutthaya is the most convenient temple to get to out of the bunch. Located an hour away from Bangkok, but a world away relatively speaking, Ayutthaya is a pleasant break from the city. The dilapidated statues are a result of an attack by the Burmese army in 1767, where thousands upon thousands of residents were murdered, raped, and enslaved. However, if there is anything to be said for Thailand and its people it is that they’re resilient. Rebuilding the city anew, Ayutthaya has since been restored to its former glory. [Photo via]
