Hotel Monteleone

Hotel Monteleone
Located in the heart of New Oreleans' French Quarter, Hotel Monteleone is one of the city's most historic attractions. In addition to being the only high-rise building in the French Quarter, the Monteleone is said to be haunted by the spirits of at least a dozen past guests and employees. Many of the ghosts have become fixtures around the hotel, and have even been given names. The "doormen" are said to open and close the doors of the hotel's restaurant, Le Cafe, even when no one is going in or out, and "Mr. Clean" is the ghost of a maid who cleans up after the current housekeeping staff, ensuring that the hotel is as tidy as possible. Even a former engineer hangs around the hotel, checking up on the functionality of the elevators throughout the year. The hotel's website says it best: "Many people who come to Hotel Monteleone don’t want to leave. Some never do…" Hotel Monteleone, 214 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA [Photo via]
