Sylvan Sounds: Freer, Dewing, and Japan

Sylvan Sounds: Freer, Dewing, and Japan
If you're a fan of Japanese art and romantic tonal American paintings, this new exhibition at the Smithsonian's Freer and Sackler Gallery is for you. From the Smithsonian:
...this intimate exhibition illuminates this connection by juxtaposing landscapes by American artist Thomas Dewing (1851–1938) with Japanese works that [museum founder Charles] Freer acquired in the late 1890s, just after his first tour of Asia. The American/Japanese exhibition will be up for a full year, until May 18, 2014. [Image via]
