IMA Generation, a newly-incorporated Virginia-based organization, wants to change the world one school at a time. IMA Generation’s mission is to make schools, in poverty-stricken regions of the world, the source of social, cultural and economic growth for their local communities. This organization is raising awareness and funds for education related projects in the countries of Brazil and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In addition, IMA Generation will host a youth program at a local recreational center promoting social and cultural education and activities in Alexandria City, Virginia.
IMA Generation’s launch event kicks off under the patronage of the Democratic Republic of Congo ambassador and Her Excellency, Mrs. Faida Mitifu.
IMA Generation was founded in 2010 by two teachers, Gety Mpanu-Mpanu and Ariell Kirylo, who want to expand their outreach to impoverished children in communities where outside help is desperately needed. The founders of IMA and a small team of Washington D.C.’s young and inspired plan to travel to Brazil in late September to visit a cultural institute in need, film a short documentary, and collect art and music for international exchange.
The founders of IMA are dedicated to facilitating the development of impoverished communities by providing the tools needed in order to allow schools to become self-sustaining as well as promote international exchange between countries. IMA Generation believes that only through education can racial and financial gaps be bridged for the poverty-stricken.
