DC Sports

DC Is Officially A Sports Town
[Those Adidas stripes look a lot like the III in RGIII...] It's impossible to have a round up of Washington social news if we can't include the topic Washington was consumed with talking about in 2012: our sports! The Nats went to the playoffs for the first time ever (the team was born 2006) and the Redskins won the NFC East Division Championship for the first time since 1999. A lot of the success of our teams can be attributed to our stunning rookies, Robert Griffin III for the 'skins and Bryce Harper for the Nats. Let's also not forget our winningest team, the Washington Kastles tennis team, which is on a two year winning streak of 32 games. And DC United's Chris Pontius was the MVP of the MLS All-Star game. Also much discussed in 2012 was the loss of our hockey season thanks to the lockout. In a way it's good that we didn't have the Caps, otherwise we might start taking our winning teams for granted!
