At a 2011 State Dinner, Michelle wowed across the board in a major Alexander McQueen gown. Sure it caused some controversy, but her response was as relatable as ever. “I like to patronize American designers, and the vast majority of the clothes that I wear are [designed by Americans],” she said. “But there are a lot of other designers that have cute stuff, too. I don’t think that I’m different from any other woman, other than the fact that people see what I wear, and then they talk about it.”
