How To Avoid The Line At Georgetown Cupcake

by Sophie Pyle · November 8, 2011

I know the feeling--all you want is just one red velvet cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake and no other shop's red velvet cupcake will cut it.

But, there's that line. They've had that line since day 1. I know because their first shop was two doors down from my dad's office and they opened while I was interning there--I could not try one cupcake until it had been open for a month (on a rainy day with a short line).

Don't be one of those people in that line. That's for tourists, and idiots that don't think ahead. You can get your fix not one, but three other super easy ways:

    1. GO TO BETHESDA! They have a shop in Bethesda that has almost no lines, ever. It's at 4834 Bethesda Ave, and there are even a couple of parking garages for you to choose from.

    2. Order ahead. Order at least one cupcake for next-day pickup and you can skip the line, just tell the guy at the door that you are picking up an order. This way, you can still see the stars of the TV show DC Cupcakes, even if it's only for a brief moment.

    3. Get a delivery! This is the easiest, in my opinion. Order it online and they'll deliver it to you in their signature Georgetown Cupcake Range Rover, or ship it. Minimum order for delivery is one dozen.

You could also wait for an icy cold rainy day (short line) or stumble upon one of the hundreds of events they provide cupcakes for.

    or...

MAKE YOUR OWN! They've released their recipes in a book!

    Bon appetit!
