The National Book Festival

BookfestivalWhere: Washington Convention Center When: Saturday, August 30th | 10 AM Why: For the 14th year, the Library of Congress has hosted the National Book Festival. This annual, free event continues to feature award-winning authors, illustrators and poets to celebrate the joy of lifetime reading. Festival attendees have the opportunity to meet and hear firsthand from their favorite authors, get books signed, have photos taken with mascots and storybook characters, and participate in a variety of learning activities.  With the success of last year's event that brought more than 200,000 attendees, the event will move to its inaugural year at the Convention Center to include movies, cooking demonstrations, and new features.
