Why: Susan G. Komen’s Honoring the Promise Gala is an evening dedicated to the progress made in the fight against breast cancer, while underscoring the long journey ahead. The start-studded event which will include a red carpet entrance, will feature Joan Lunden who will be the evening’s emcee and help Komen honor Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and The Carlyle Group’s David Rubenstein for their work in fighting breast cancer. The night will feature musical performances by Bruce Hornsby and will be followed by dancing and drinks. Money raised from the event will go to support Komen’s 19 grantees in the National Capital Region, an area with the highest incidence and mortality rate from breast cancer in the country!
