Where You Should Celebrate Halloween 2015

What: Howl-O-Ween Where: Hotel Monaco in Alexandria When: Thursday, October 29 at 5pm Why: Halloween has gone to the dogs with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's (AWLA) and Hotel Monaco/Jackson 20’s Howl-O-Ween event! This popular pet costume contest has become an annual tradition in Old Town, Alexandria. Cheered on by spectators and a panel of judges, up to 60 contestants will strut down the "catwalk" in the outdoor courtyard, modeling their Halloween finest. Enter in any of the four categories below to win some fabulous prizes: 1) American Idol (Crowd Favorite): One night weekend stay at Hotel Monaco DC with a gift certificate for Poste Moderne Brasserie 2) Spookiest Costume: One night weekend stay at Hotel Monaco Alexandria with a gift certificate for Jackson 20 3) Best Couple/Group: One night weekend stay at Hotel Monaco Baltimore with a gift certificate for B&O American Brasserie 4) Most Creative Critter: Two tickets to the Potomac Riverboat Company's "Bark or Treat" Halloween Canine Cruise on Friday, October 30th Come out with your costumed canine and cruise to some Halloween tunes along the Potomac. There will be Halloween treats on board along with a photographer to capture your pets in their Halloween finest. The AWLA will also be launching their 2016 Alexandria Animals of the Year Calendar. Calendars are $20 and make excellent holiday gifts. Calendar contestants can stop by The Bombay Room in Hotel Monaco to pick up their complimentary calendars. All proceeds from the calendar sales benefit the AWLA and its shelter animals. During the evening’s festivities, guests can purchase Halloween-themed cocktails and light bites from Jackson 20, while complimentary doggie treats and fresh water bowls will be available for all of our canine friends. Hotel Monaco/Jackson 20 will donate 10% of courtyard food and beverage revenue to the AWLA. For the pet costume contest, there is a $15 entrant fee for all canine participants and a $10 suggested door donation for spectators (suggested door donation does not apply to calendar contestant participants).
