Zoom In DC & In The Future

Zoom In DC & In The Future
GofG: Where are your favorite places to shop in DC for interior design? Madeline: There’s a lot of good Tibetan and Middle Easterns stores in DC like Village Arts & Crafts on Wisconsin Ave. I lived in India for a year and love the color and patterns. Everything is so unique and eclectic. Lizzie: For my style (contemporary with a classic twist), CB2. I could buy everything from CB2 and luckily we get the designers discounts. Beatrice: We love Miss Pixie's.  And GoodWood. GofG: Any tips to vintage interior design shopping? Lizzie: It can be very overpriced. Don’t buy overpriced! Madeline: Make sure it’s not chipped. Open drawers. Make sure things are working everywhere. Beatrice: Now we know where everything is from so a lot of times we see a piece from an online store (like Target) priced-up in a vintage store because it's been used before. My new trick is to put a picture of it on Google Images and then if it comes up as Target, don’t buy it. GofG: What's next for Zoom Interiors? Beatrice: We have a lot of ideas. I’m spearheading this new box idea. If you don’t necessarily want to re-do your room, you can send a care package with supplies for a mini-makeover. Instead of sending Christmas cookies, we can send a Christmas-themed box with a cute Christmas tree and stuff to make your room or dorm look festive. We want to do our own furniture line. We’ve seen all the cheap stuff and we know what we want. Lizzie: No matter how much online shopping you do, there is still stuff you can’t find. Madeline: We don’t want expensive furniture. You really need to know what you’re doing to make a cool line for low-cost. We're also looking into doing a television show or web series. GofG: Anything else? Beatrice: It makes it easier when you’re doing it with your best friends and you’re having fun. Madeline: I just got chills! Beatrice: Maddie is the more emotional one...
