The evening honored the advances made in the fight against Alzheimer's, and notable leaders working tirelessly to end Alzheimer's. Wolf Blitzer, CNN’s lead political anchor and host of “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” serves as the event's emcee and announced the recipients to this year's awards. Richard Hodes, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was the recipient of the Ronald and Nancy Reagan Research Award, Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) received the Alzheimer’s Association Humanitarian Award, Lisa Genova, Author of Still Alice was the recipient of The Sargent and Eunice Shriver Profiles in Dignity Award, and Cathy Perkowitz of Greater Illinois was the recipient of the Advocate Award.
