A clear nod to John Carpenter’s
The Thing, “Ice” takes Mulder and Scully to the Arctic to uncover the mystery as to why an Arctic research team mysteriously kill each other and themselves only days after drilling deeper into the ice than ever before. They discover an organism which infects living creatures and amplifies the host's paranoia and rage. I particularly love guest star Xander Berkeley in this episode - he can play a jerk like no other (see also:
