Josh Pence is an American actor and model who was born in Santa Monica, California on June 8, 1982. His father, Charles Pence, is a real estate agent and his mother, Linda Pence, is an elementary school teacher. Josh has a younger brother Jason Pence. In the summers Josh and his family spent time in Northern Maine, where his mother grew up, a place which he has stated helped shape him into the person he is today.
After graduating from Santa Monica High School in 2000, he was looking for a completely different experience so he moved to Hanover, New Hampshire to attend Dartmouth University. He was a rower in high school and continued to row at Dartmouth for a year before getting injured. After graduating, he briefly returned to Los Angeles to study acting and began modeling to pay the bills. Later, he moved to New York City to work with acting coach Sheila Gray and there he continued print work.
His first official modeling job was in 2004, he started with his agent David Todd at Nous Agency. Impressively, his first job was with Bruce Weber for L'uomo Vogue. Josh also got the opportunity to work with Mario Testino for his infamous V Magazine Summer 09 Swimsuit issue. He has worked for some of the world's largest fashion houses including: Calvin Klein, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss. As an actor, Josh has appeared in episodes of CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.
In 2009, Josh booked a role playing rower and technology entrepreneur Tyler Winklevoss in the Social Network, the movie adaptation of Ben Mezrich's book Accidental Billionaires which chronicles the founding and early days of Facebook. The script was penned by famed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. Josh's character is the identical twin brother of Cameron Winklevoss, played by Armie Hammer. Hammer's face in the movie will be transposed over Pence's face to portray the twins on screen. Directing the film is the masterful digital effects expert, David Fincher (who worked on Curious Case of Benjamen Button). Josh and Armie met Cameron and Tyler for the first time in-person in Los Angeles, California in April 2010.
