6. In the last few months of 2011, Burberry saw a 21% increase in sales. It was first speculated that this increase is due to Kate Middleton because she has drawn attention to this luxury brand by wearing the infamous patterned scarves and a trench coat that sold out 24 hours after she was seen wearing it. Burberry chief executive, Angela Ahrendts, however, attributes this increase to the brand’s investments in flagship markets and digital technology. She also believes that their gain in 10 million Facebook fans have attributed to the increase and have thus been targeting a younger audience.
