In 2001, Ralph Lauren established the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care & Prevention in East Harlem, New York in partnership with Sloan-Kettering. After the death of long term friend and fashion editor Nina Hyde in 1990, Lauren created Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC). The Pink Pony Fund focuses on breast cancer and supports programs for early diagnosis, treatment, education, and research. This initiative is dedicated to bring awareness and quality patient cancer care to medically underserved communities. Special Pink Pony products also benefit the Pink Pony Fund.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ralph Lauren celebrates Pink Pony Day. This year it will be held on October 25th.
