Gloria 1985

Gloria 1985
Gloria, Gloria, Gloria. She was the next big girl after Donna, causing the US $900 million in damages, and hitting Long Island with Category 3 winds. Eastern Long Island, was the worst hit as high wind gusts blew thousands of trees into buildings and across roads. Her high winds caused big swells leading to moderate beach erosion and taking several piers and docks with her. The storm surge, though relatively weak, destroyed 48 houses on the ocean side of the island and some New Yorkers were electricity-less for over eleven days. BUT WE STILL SURVIVED! [Photo via]
