Arnold Helbling: Drop City
If you think Swiss born artist Arnold Helbling's piece seems a little familiar, you're probably looking at Victoria Boogie Woogie where he uses blues and yellows to honor artist Piet Mondrian. Drop City takes after a 1960s community near Trinidad, Colorado, where artists practiced "drop art," a method in which they dropped small painted objects from a roof to see the reactions of people walking by. Helbling transfers this concept through drips, airbrushing, and acrylics on canvas and combines vibrant and soft colors for a warm visual aesthetic. Hurry up because your last chance to see Drop City is this Saturday at Diane Rosenstein Fine Art!
