Slide #3

Jeff Mangum
If you like your indie rock as creepy as possible, you've probably already heard of Jeff Mangum, the co-founder of Elephant 6 and former frontman of utterly beloved Neutral Milk Hotel. As would befit the kind of guy who claims that his biggest musical inspiration was the story of Anne Frank, Mangum is a noted recluse who for years refused to play Neutral Milk Hotel songs in public and usually doesn't play shows at all unless the venue agrees to a no camera, no recording whatsoever rule. In other words, Coachella would not exactly seem to be his bag. However, he's recently started playing in public again, including playing for the Occupy Wall Street protesters and another gig at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival last year. Both of these shows and several others reportedly had many of the most popular Neutral Milk Hotel songs in there, so there's reason to believe that his Coachella show should be the event that every kid who had their musical life changed by In The Aeroplane Over The Sea in high school is waiting for.  [photo via]
