Slide #4

The Shins
It's been a while since last we heard from Albuquerque's The Shins, who spent the middle part of last decade as the kings of the indie movie soundtrack crowd with their quirky, melodic pop-rock. But while we'll hopefully never hear from Zach Braff again, The Shins are back in business and back on tour to support Port of Morrow, their new album which is scheduled to be released in March on frontman James Mercer's Aural Apothecary record label. While the rest of the band has now completely turned over (new touring members include Modest Mouse drummer Joe Plummer and Crystal Skulls bassist Yuuki Matthews), The Shins have always belonged to Mercer, and as their brand new single "Simple Song" demonstrates, we shouldn't expect anything less than a fresh but familiar set of songs in the trademark sound that we know and love.
