Like most mega-cities, L.A. is populated with lots and lots of people who grew up somewhere else, and this is never more clear than during the holidays, when the 20-somethings clear out of town so thoroughly that you can actually lift your arms inside The Brig. Chances are you're going somewhere also, and perhaps you're feeling the trepidation that comes with knowing that the only plane ticket you could afford is a middle-seat on a red-eye that's putting you in Denver by way of Jacksonville.
