Slide #4

The Stanley at The Pikey
Were we already partial to The Pikey, seeing as how we helped usher in its early days? Yeah, probably. But that's not what keeps us coming back so much as the great atmosphere, the British-themed food that thankfully tastes far better than actual British food (see also: Waterloo & City), and, of course, a bangin' drink menu, which as we all know by now, a new "gastropub" style place in L.A. isn't getting far without. The cocktails all pay homage to the mother country, but as far as a drink we imagine a white-mustachioed colonial limey might have enjoyed on safari does, we like The Stanley, which mixes the quintessential light bitterness of Pimm's No. 1 with the alluring earthiness of Starr African Rum, which is imported from Mauritius and aged in whisky barrels to develop a flavor well outside of standard rums. Also they have a drink named after the hooker that Hugh Grant got caught with on the corner just outside The Pikey, 7617 West Sunset Blvd., 90046, (323) 850-5400 [via]
