This photo, taken from the line of kids waiting to get into last night's midnight screening at LA Live, kind of proves why it's not that good of an idea to incorporate fascist iconography into young adult content. As I understand it, the book's message is that the central government is a bad, oppressive thing, and that this salute is a symbol of that. All of which is a fancy way of saying this girl might not want to do it, in a movie line, in front of news cameras.
