Slide #7

Wilshire
Our guide so far has featured both dynamic new restaurants and old stalwarts alike, but how about a veteran that, with a change of leadership, has started feeling young again? That's the vibe at Wilshire in Santa Monica, which weathered the departure of head chef Andrew Kirschner (he subsequently opened Tar & Roses in Santa Monica) but gained new life with the addition of Josiah Citrin protege (and "Top Chef" alum) Nyesha Arrington, who cooked for Citrin at Mélisse and later at the short-lived Caché in Ahh-nuld's old Schatzi space. The results have been better than anyone could have perhaps expected, as Wilshire's been racking up the positive press and local word of mouth with mouthwatering contemporary fare like a Chimay marinated flat iron steak in chimichurri and a Jidori chicken in thyme jus (Emily's personal fave), both of which are available on the DineLA menu. They're also offering a lunch prix fixe with staples like a slow braised short rib sandwich [View Menu + Book Now] [via]
