X, The Avengers, The Dead Kennedys at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA "Under The Big Black Sun," the Geffen Contemporary's contribution to the region-wide "Pacific Standard Time" art initiative, focuses on the discontent, anarchy and disillusionment in California art between the years 1974-1981. Few cultural exports from that era more succinctly capture that particular ethos that the influential, challenging punk music of the time, and so it's only fitting that The Geffen is choosing to celebrate their exhibition with a show from X, the L.A. punk legends whose 1982 album gives this exhibition its name.
