::FRIDAY—May 18::

The Boxer Rebellion at The El Rey
After having to cancel the North American leg of their international tour last October, The Boxer Rebellion held good on their promise to return for rescheduled dates, bringing their show to the El Rey on Friday for their L.A. fans. With band members from several different continents, the London-based band began making music under the name The Boxer Rebellion for about 10 years. They've garnered a steady following since then for their moody, down-tempo garage rock sound that characterizes their songs. I try not to make generalizations like this but you should know that their music is pretty sad. Like, they use is for emotional weepy scenes in Drew Barrymore movies and "Grey's Anatomy" episodes. So, if you go to this show, just be prepared to see some girls (and probably guys too) swooning and perhaps some tears. [Details] [The Boxer Rebellion photo via]
