The Flaming Lips & Tame Impala @ Greek Theatre
Formed in 1983, it seems The Flaming Lips have brought forth a new heir to their psychedelic throne. Led by Wayne Coyne, the ever-evolving experimental Flaming Lips has been a heavy definer of kaleidoscopic euphoria for many generations, and this fall, bestows Tame Impala with the honor of touring with them. Hypno-groovy and melodic, the group was formed in Perth, Australia, a project of Kevin Parker. They are brought into mainstream light with their highly praised 2012 album, Lonerism. It is obvious why Parker and Coyne have gotten along so well. With tracks off Lonerism such as "Elephant" and "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards," Tame Impala is reminiscent of Flaming Lips' Embryonic, carrying the same hallucinogenic meandering we hold so dear. Keep your eyes peeled for the EP collaboration due next year. Trip out as generational forces come together at The Greek! [Details] [Photo via via]
