3. Deadmau5 comments on his "press play" accusations. Recently, Deadmau5 criticized some of his peers, including
Skrillex and
David Guetta, for just pressing a few buttons and calling themselves DJs. He took to his
Tumblr to further explain that comment starting with,
"we all hit play. its no secret. when it comes to “live” performance of EDM… that’s about the most it seems you can do anyway. It’s not about performance art, its not about talent either (really its not) In fact, let me do you and the rest of the EDM world button pushers who fuckin hate me for telling you how it is, a favor and let you all know how it is."
He stressed the importance of studio releases and production and that no DJ produces new original tracks on "they fly," himself included. He finishes his post thanking his fans but didn't outright apologize for the comments. Leave it to Deadmou5 to say what we're all thinking. [
