Stronghold Museums

Steep yourself in the longstanding art world of this Upper Manhattan neighborhood by checking out some museums that have been up and running since before you were born. In 1968 and 1969 respectively, el Museo del Barrio and the Studio Museum of Harlem were both founded by community organizers. Ever since, they've been providing spaces for artists that represent Latin American and Black communities of Harlem.  On the free days at these iconic museums (every third Saturday of the month for el Museo and every Sunday for Studio Museum), join an economically logical crowd and experience for yourself the troves of art that are rooted in Harlem's culture.
