James Meyer, Shadow

Shadow, James Meyer’s latest exhibition at the Gering & Lopez gallery, the artist depicts almost bucolic scenes of children and people at times of leisures in the great outdoors. Images of children playing or men getting ready to bat, are as comforting as they are unlikely, in our modern multi-tasking world. Meyer's images are devoid of any references to technology allowing the viewer to get lost in the details of his wall sculptures. These images, printed on aluminum and plastic take on a timeless quality that seems to make the actions depicted stretch on forever: a nice contrast to our blink-and-you'll-miss-it daily lives.
