Mike Brodie, A Period of Juvenile Prosperity

Mike Brodie, A Period of Juvenile Prosperity
[Photo via] Mike Brodie aka The Polaroid Kidd's exhibition of color photographs currently on view at the Yossi Milo Gallery depict the gritty subculture of freight train hoppers and squatters. This exhibition is a showcase of photographs Brodie took from 2004-2009, which document the transient lifestyle of this often misunderstood subculture. Brodie is able to capture this movement in an honest and inclusive light as he himself began train hopping at the age of 17. After being gifted with a polaroid camera, Brodie began to document his travels across America and back numerous times over. Although Brodie has no professional training, his eye for photography is uncanny and this is evident in the quality of images he is able to capture. A recipient of the Baum Award for Emerging American Photographers in 2008, Brodie's photographs will satisfy photography buffs and counter culture aficionados alike. Date: March 7th - April 6th Location: Yosi Milo Gallery, 245 Tenth Avenue
