The tumultuous time that was the 1960s in America is being commemorated in a new photo exhibition at the Howard Greenberg Gallery. 1963 is a collection of over 40 images depicting the definitive events of the year—the civil rights protests, Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, and the assassination of President Kennedy. The cultural influences of the emergent music, fashion, and art of the era will also be examined, in intimate photographs portraying everyone from Bob Dylan to Roy Lichtenstein.
