MISTY COPELAND
The incredible Lupita Nyong'o presented Misty Copeland's award. In case you haven't heard, Misty Copeland is the first African American ballerina to be promoted as principal dancer. Fighting through barriers such as race and six stress fractures that almost ended her career, she has created a breakthrough in defeating society's identity for her by creating her own. Beyond any doubt, this award was well-deserved.
