The owner, Sierra Fromburg, makes you feel like you’re shopping with an honest friend who lets you do your thing, never taking on the overbearing shop girl role.
“I wouldn't push anyone to buy anything over-the-top that I wouldn't personally wear, and I never buy something I wouldn't wear.”
One of the most appealing things about the shop is being on her mailing list, as she always lets you know when she’s just gone shopping, and the outcome is always impeccable. If you’re looking for something in particular, she’ll look out for it the next time she buys. Another economically helpful inclusion for those still on a student budget would be the two bins at the front of the shop stuffed with great ten and twenty dollar finds. The overall aesthetic is a mixed bag of '90s minimalism and airy fabrics, but a lot goes back to the looks of recent decades that remain chic and timeless. Think maxi dresses, overalls, high-waisted shorts and soft pants, as well as boyfriend sweaters. The subtlety of the pieces leave room for layering, and ex-stylist Sierra even muses,
“I like to consider my stuff a compilation of staple items. If you can put together an outfit out of staples that you layer, you’re set.”
A lot is reminiscent of the attire in Woody Allen’s Manhattan. She suggests you throw one of her big sweaters on over a floral maxi, so it evolves into a long skirt. Pair it with a floppy hat and some sandals, and you’re ready to take the warmer months by storm. Grey Era Vintage 435 E 9th Street [Photo via]
