As DJs, you generated a lot of buzz by using iPods during your gigs. Do you think the use of iPads and similar technology has been more or less embraced since then?
Modern DJing is, at its essence, about using machines designed for a specific purpose in unexpected new ways. We'd like to think that we're honoring the greats that came before us Francis Grasso, DJ Kool Herc, Grand Wizard Theodore etc, DJs who looked at a turntable and thought "What if instead of just playing a record I messed with this thing? What if I used this thing in a way it'd creator never meant for it to be used?". Hardware and software designers have caught up and made tools which emulate what DJs have done in the past, but to be honest not very well. Making a "virtual turntable" isn't the goal, reinventing the wheel is what we're after.
