J: I wasn’t involved in the business at all until 12 years ago. I grew up in an Ashram upstate, and had my first job at 14 working at a deli upstate, cleaning up food at 4 am. It was terrible! A tough introduction to the food world! I used to work as a chemical engineer and had never worked in the food industry. I started talking to Niki’s father about coming into Russ & Daughters, and we both took a leap of faith.
