"You have to expect that there are going to be critics – mean ones."

[On Leandra’s bookshelf sits a big “LOVE” fist – a wedding gift from designer Jonathan Adler.] I find it to be so raw, and online even more so - you can put something up and you never know how it’s going to be perceived. Have you ever received harsh words on Manrepeller? I imagine you must have a thick skin? “Well yeah, I mean you have to, especially in the personal style blog arena, because that is what half of my site is, it’s a lot of photos of me and stuff, you have to expect that there are going to be critics – mean ones. You know I’ve gotten everything from: ‘I know Jews are ugly but you’re particularly bad looking,’ to: ‘You’re making me dumber.’How do you handle that? “I just let it be. I mean if it’s an anti-semantic slur I delete it because that’s just awful and it’s wrong. But if you’re telling me I’m a bad writer, than okay, that’s your opinion, I’m not going to delete that, you know? That’s the whole point of a free forum.”
