Matt Kliegman and Carlos Quirarte
Is NYC nightlife dead?
Matt: “I don’t believe it. We watch people have an amazing time almost every night of the week.”
A lot of cool kids seem to be living and going out in Brooklyn. Do you think there are still cool kids left in Manhattan?
Unison: “100%”
Carlos: “It’s funny because I read these articles that nightlife is dying. What I truly think is dying is the “I’m too cool” kind of nightlife which has been reigning for the past ten years. Like I’m sitting alone at a table with a bottle and money and models and I don’t dance and I just sit around hanging out with my cool people. To me that elitism is dead. Now it’s about getting up and getting on the dance floor. Parties like *Westgay are a good example of that.
Partying is not about looking cool in a corner smoking your cigarette. To me that is LAME!
It has to be real.”
*Last week, the Westgay party won the Paper Magazine nightlife award for the best party of 2012.
