So, why doughnuts?

I paint doughnuts because they are objects to be desired. They provoke a craving. They are devious and delicious and I enjoy creating paintings that invoke these emotions. They allow me to use a bright, exciting color palette, and to just focus on small delicious details, such as highlights on a glazed doughnut. It’s painting for painting’s sake. I don’t have to worry about atmospheric effects or vanishing point.
